Electricity

Today we investigated where our electricity comes from and how it powers our devices.

We found out the there are renewable and non-renewable forms of energy and some are better for the environment than others.

Ordering the energy types by impact on the environment.

Science Mystery box

Today we explored a mystery science box. We were learning to observe like a scientist. We either observed what we saw or made inference by identifying evidence to lead us to make a likely conclusion.  It was great fun.

What's a flinker?

Well, it's an object that floats and sinks both at the same time. Today we investigated floating, sinking, mass, volume and had lots of fun with water.

Rocket Maths

So we wanted to measure how high our rockets would soar. We figured that if we knew how high one metre was on this pole then we could figure out it's entire height.

We used this photo to measure in mm then worked out the scale. It worked out that the pole is approximately 5.5m tall.

Today we took part in a live stream event in association with OMGTech. We learned about the NZ space programme and also how to make some rockets of our own. We'll have a go at making our rockets tomorrow.
